Pale ruby in the glass with aromas of juicy cherries, black currants, raspberry and violets. On the palate, crunchy fruits with leather, black tea pepper and a wonderful smokiness. Great volcanic mineral structure, medium bodied and subtle tannins. Long and evolving meaty finish. Unusual and delicious.

Additional Information: Whilst studying Chemistry on mainland Spain, Carmelo Peña dreamt of owning his own restaurant and started taking courses on hospitality and wine. This ignited his passion and he changed course to study oenology.
After completing his degree, he worked under iconic producers Dirk Niepoort, in the Douro, and Raul Perez, in Bierzo and oenology.
He returned to his home island to save old neglected vineyards and today prodcuces incredible terroir driven delights. The result are wines with incredible purity and full of soul
The Ikewen spends 8 months in oak barrels. Bottled unfined, unfiltered with a small amount of SO2, organic and biodynamic (not certified).
