Breaky Bottom is a small-scale family-run business established in 1974. Six acres of vines in the South Downs National Park including a flock of 40 ewes and lambs to graze the surrounding steep banks. The soil is a free-draining chalk loam with flint. Two miles from the English Channel, a secluded valley offering shelter from coastal winds and providing an ideal microclimate for vine growing.
In one of the warmest years ever in Sussex, with a gorgeous Indian summer lasting well into October, ripeness was at an all time high. Peter, ever attuned to the state of his vineyard recognised the quality of his Pinot Noir and Meunier fruit and took the opportunity to produce his first ever Blanc de Noirs.
