Winemaking Casa Balaguer is a third generation estate in Alicante working organically and biodynamically. All grapes are hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in a range of vessels including stainless steel, wood, concrete and clay.
The Tragolargo red is Monastrell (Mourvedre) made with no added sulphur from bush vines 700m above sea level.
The grapes used to make the Tragolargo wine come from plots in Villena, Alicante. The grapes ferment with their native yeasts and with 30% of the stalks, adding a note of freshness which, combined with its youth and lack of any aging process, results in a juicy and very fruity wine.
Tragolargo is a pleasant and easy to drink wine, which conveys the variety’s character and the unique characteristics of each vintage.

Casa Balaguer was set up in 2000 by the renowned oenologist and champion of Alicante wine development, Rafa Bernabé. Marta Ribera and Andrés Carull, from Vinessens, acquired the estate in 2017, forming what is now Casa Balaguer-Vinessens, which continues to offer garage wines that showcase the excellence of old native variety vines.
