Nose of black cherries, ripe morello and hints of violet, framed by subtle forest-floor and savoury earth. The palate is juicy yet refined; dark berry fruit buoyed by fresh acidity and fine, gently gripping tannins; there’s a pleasing minerality that keeps the wine from feeling heavy. A thread of blackcurrant liqueur and gentle oak spice emerges on the close, making for a lingering finish that balances power with elegance.

Additional Information: Domaine Arlaud was created in 1942. In 2013 Cyprien Arlaud (5th generation) assumed full control over management of the Family estate, by which time it had grown to 15 hectares, consisting of 19 separate Appellation Controlled vineyard sites, with choice plots in 4 grand Crus: Clos de la Roche, Clos Saint Denis, Charmes Chambertin, and Bonnes Mares.

Roncevie parcel since 1964 when Joseph Arlaud acquired it. Roncevie was formerly classified as part of Gevrey‑Chambertin, despite the vines enjoying virtually the same soils, exposure and character as many Gevrey vineyards. The vines, now more than 60 years old, are planted on limestone‑clay soil with underlying marne de Bresse, a terroir that gives depth and freshness.

Hand harvested fermented with indigenous yeasts, and aged in older French oak barrels (with very minimal new oak), with restrained intervention in the cellar to focus on clarity of fruit and expression of terroir.
