Domaine Bertrand Bachelet Maranges 1er Cru La Fussiere 2019

Aromas of red berries, cherries and raspberries. Fresh on the palate, with peppery notes, black tea and fresh leather developing. Decant or hold for 3-4 years.

Additional Information: The newest AOC in the Cote de Beaune in the hills above Chassagne, created in 1989 spanning three villages, namely Dezize-lès-Maranges, Cheilly-les-Maranges and Sampigny-les-Maranges. Several hills make up this appellation, all south or south-east-facing, at an altitude of between 200 and 400 metres. 

The Maranges 1ers Crus are spread over seven distinct areas, La Fussière is the main  vineyard. Average age of the vines is 50 years. Soil is clay, marl and limestone rocks.

The grapes are rigorously sorted before being partially or totally destemmed, depending the characteristics of the vintage. Vatting lasts for about three weeks, with regular temperature controls and care is taken not to over extract. 

Aged for one year on average, followed by several months in vats to stabilise the wine before bottling.
