A rare and aromatic Savagnin. Bright golden straw in colour, this wine opens with intense notes of pomelo, orange peel with lychee and ripe mango lifted by floral tones. Subtle brioche and buttery notes provide depth, while a crisp acidity and flinty minerality keep it fresh and vivid. The finish is long, fragrant, and slightly spicy, with a lingering note of citrus peel and soft wood smoke.

Henri Le Roy is a first-generation winemaker who began his original career as a Biologist in Paris. Falling in love with Burgundy but without a Burgundian wallet, he settled in the Jura and begin his second career in wine starting l’Aigle à Deux Têtes (the two- headed Eagle). He farms around 5 hectares of vines in the Vincelles area of the Jura. This is the next village up from Rotalier (home to the world renown Ganevat and Labet).

His first vintage was in 2005, and he has continued to evolve and grow as a winemaker for the past decade-plus.No additions apart from SO2 at bottling. These wines have great tension and depth and can be found in some of the great restaurants of the world.

Les Clous vineyard is South Facing vineyard, organic (not certified), soil is blue marl and within this Henri has a few rows of a grape variety called Naturé Muscaté planted in 2008 and a second part of the vineyard was planted in 2017. This is a rare clone of Savagnin (known locally as Naturé) and apparently there’s only one hectare in the world.

Spontaneous fermentation, hand harvested, pressing of whole bunches. 228L used
burgundy barrels for elevage. Henri buys barrels that have had 2-3 uses before and
stops using them after 8 wines. No additions other than SO2, small amounts after
fermentations and before bottling. Light filtration.
