The growing season allowed for only measly yields, the lowest by a significant amount in twenty years with only half produced of the estate’s average. However, the low yields were of exceptional quality.
Domaine Les Pallieres only produces two red wines, the ‘Racine’ and the ‘Terrasse du Diable'. The property is located at the extreme north of the appellation, with primarily a northern exposure, all vineyards are organically farmed with selective hand harvesting and first sort in the field.
90% Grenache, 5% Mourvèdre, 5% Clairette. Grapes are partially de-stemmed and pressed gently by pneumatic press and fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts.
Grapes are grown on the higher altitude terraced vineyards than those used for the Racine. After a period of ten months ageing in concrete vats, the wine is aged in large oak foudres also for ten months. It is then bottled without filtration two years after harvest. Drinking now until 2030.
