An intense and spicy nose with ripe cherries, sandalwood notes of sage and crushed flint. Beautifully concentrated palate of dark cherries, violets and nutmeg with crunchy tannins. A silky, elegant wine with an amazingly complex and lingering finish. Drinking well now but will continue to develop for another 20 years.

Country: Germany Region: Franken  Grapes: Spätburgunder( Pinot Noir)
ABV: 13%  Bottle Size: 75cl

Additional Information:A family winery with roots dating back to 1638. Paul Fürst, along with his wife Monika, took the reins in 1979, relocating the winery to the outskirts of the village, nestled within the Centgrafenberg vineyard. Starting with a modest 1.5-hectare vineyard, the Fürsts' now have a 21-hectare estate, predominantly dedicated to Spätburgunder. Sebastian and his wife Isabell took over the winery in 2018.

Father and son continue to work together closely and are driven by their shared aspiration to constantly improve their artisanal techniques to achieve utmost quality. They emphasize meticulous vineyard care, selective hand harvesting, and eco-friendly practices, resulting in wines that are recognised as one of the highest quality Pinot Noir producers in Germany.

Centgrafenberg is the Fürst’s coolest GG (Grand Cru) site and sits just above the family home. While the plot does have plenty of the rich red soil so typical of this area in Franken, it is much rockier. Fürst produces very low and concentrated yields with 20 to 35 hectoliters per hectare.

The vintage fits into the series of warm vintages such as 2018, 2019 and 2020. But compared to those, the 2022 vintage had small and perfectly ripe and healthy grapes at harvest. A classic and high quality vintage.
