Herdade Sao Miguel Pé de Mãe 2018

Fruity on the nose with red berries and cherry. The fruitiness is balanced with good acidity and soft tannins mellowed by aging in large old oak barrels.  Medium bodied with a persistent fruity finish.

Additional Information: Started by Alexandre Relvas in 1997, in the heart of Redondo, today his two sons Alexandre Jr and António are in charge supported by head winemaker Nuno Franco and his team at the Pimenta Winery.

Herdade São Miguel is the original, flagship estate which comprises 35 Ha of vineyard as well as Cork forest and olive groves and a flock of Merino sheep. The whole estate totals around 750 hectares of cork oak forest, 225 hectares of olive groves and 350 hectares of vineyards.

Manual harvested with selection in the vineyard. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts with controlled temperature between 21ºC and 25ºC. Fermentation in stainless steel with whole berries and 20% of stalks. Maceration of 30 days. Malolatic fermentation in French oak barrels. Aged 18 months in 5000L french oak foudre before bottling.
