Lequeux-Mercier, ‘G4.2’, Extra Brut, NV
Rich and complex on the nose, aromas of croissants, hazelnuts, caramel with pleasantly oxidative notes. The palate is opulent, precise with hints of baked apple and great structure. A satisfying, chalky finish.
Country: France Region: Champagne, Vallée de la Marne Grapes: Pinot Noir, Meunier
ABV: 12% Bottle Size: 75cl
Additional Information: Located in the picturesque village of Passy sur Marne in the heart of the Marne Valley, the Lequeux-Mercier family has been producing their own Champagnes for generations.
Fourth generation Remy has now taken over his family maison, breathing new life into the traditional family style producing terroir driven, Pinot Meunier based wines.
Working to get the best from his vines but balancing the vineyard with its surrounding environment, farming sustainably with no use of pesticides, Remy is focussed on wines from single-plot vintages reflecting the land (Clay – Marl – Sand) creating atypical vintages, based on Meunier. There is little intervention in the winery in order to obtain Champagnes representative of terroir and to bring out the characteristics of each of our plots.
Producing two distinct styles: this phenomenal non vintage cuvée and his single variety wines, which are all oak vinified with much complexity and depth.
65% Meunier, 35% Pinot Noir, the base wine is from the 2011 vintage, discouraged in March 2022.
