Additional Information: On the left bank of the Ruwer river, the lands of the von Schubert estate have been producing wines since Roman times. Farmed as three separate vineyards, Abstberg, Herrenberg and Bruderberg since the 10th Century when an order of Benedictine monks owned the land until the 18th Century. The present owner, Dr Carl von Schubert’s family bought the land in the 19th Century and has worked the vineyard since.
‘Superior’ is is a reference to “Father Superior” and its Benedictine monastery roots. It is made in the “semi-sweet” Feinherb style with about 1.5% residual sugar but perfectly balanced.
Hand harvested from the Abstberg vineyard with slate soil, sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks and large wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. Left to finish fermentation then rested on fine lees for a few months before bottling.
Will continue to develop for the next 10 - 20 years.
