Tasting Note: This LBV has a very lively, complex aromas with a mature, black plum, spicy, herbal finish. It has good concentration without being too full-bodied and fresh tannins give the port length and depth.
An excellent example of a ‘Late Bottled Vintage’ in other words aged for five years in large wooden barrels, rather than two for Vintage. The time in wood softens the youthful power.
LBV Port can be approached when released, but (at its best) retains more than a hint of Vintage Port, unlike the longer aged (Tawny) wines.
Country: Portugal Region: Porto
ABV: 19.5% Bottle Size: 50cl
Grape Varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz.
Additional Information: The LBV is similar in style to other La Rosa ports, well defined, a good structure, and has mature tannins with soft wood undertones. La Rosa ports are always slightly drier than most, and the brandy is always well-integrated.
This Port has not been filtered and might throw light sediment but should not require decanting. Delicious with dessert, especially chocolate, cheese or on its own.
Great all round red for a cheeseboard. Fruit and intensity to match almost any style of cheese apart from tart goats etc
