S.A.Prüm Wurgarten Urzig Riesling Grosse Lage Auslese 2010

The wine is golden. It opens up on the nose with aromas of honey, and other typical botrytis notes such as marmalade and wax. The palate is sweet, balanced by high acidity, hints of spices, exotic fruit and citrus. The finish is deep, lifted and refreshing.

Additional Information: From the small family estate Weignut S.A. Prüm, located on the banks of the Mosel river. Grapes are from the Wurzgarter (spice garden) vineyard near the village of Urzig. This vineyard has a bright red colour, due to red slate and rhyolite (a volcanic stone) which makes it unique in the Mosel. 

The ripe grapes with a touch of Botrytis were selected and harvested at the end of October. They undergo a short maceration on the skins, then 5 weeks of fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is then aged in large oak barrels for three months and has an ageing capacity of 35 years.
