Sugrue South Downs - The Trouble with Dreams 2022

Bright, pale golden colour with a persistent stream of exceptionally fine bubbles. The bouquet is expressive and beautifully layered, revealing aromas of ripe lemon, crisp green apple and white peach, complemented by delicate notes of toasted brioche, freshly baked biscuits and roasted nuts. 

Ripe orchard fruits, preserved lemon and a touch of citrus zest unfold alongside creamy pastry and delicate toasted almond flavours. The fine, persistent mousse lends an elegant texture, while the vibrant acidity brings exceptional definition and balance. Partial oak fermentation adds further depth and a gentle savoury character without overpowering the purity of the fruit.

An exceptional example of modern English sparkling wine, offering both immediate enjoyment and impressive ageing potential.

Sugrue South Downs is the award-winning, boutique producer of English sparkling and still wines made by Dermot and Ana Sugrue.In 2006, Irishman Dermot planted a small vineyard at Storrington Priory at the foot of the South Downs in West Sussex.Seven years later, his first sparkling wine The Trouble With Dreams was released and it rapidly gained critical acclaim.
