Yuste Palo Cortado Conde de Aldama
Yuste Palo Cortado Conde de Aldama
Very dark in the glass. Intense aromas of toffee and maple syrup. Concentrated palate of salted caramel, hazelnuts. Salinity on the finish. Incredibly complex and incredibly rare.
Country: Spain Region: Jerez Grape: Palomino
ABV: 20.5% Bottle Size: 50cl
Additional Information: With the phylloxera plague ripping through Europe at the end of the 19th century, the Aldama family sealed his best botas, part of a solera started approximately 1750, in plaster to protect their value and to prevent their mixture with wines from new, grafted vines.
In 1927 the botas were re-opened and had been untouched until Bodegas Yuste took over in 2001. The wines had been untouched for over 100 years. There are only two wines from these botas, the Amontillado ‘Conde de Aldama’ and this Palo Cortado which has slightly higher traces of oloroso.
Only 8 butts are available of this Palo Cortado ‘Conde de Aldama’, bottlings are very scarce.
